Freightify AI Foundation..?

This is just my thought process, thought of sharing. Just a 1min read.

You guys know the business, you know the freight industry, and you guys also know the tech. If anyone can make this happen, it's this team. We should be the guys who make this evolution to the Freight Forwarding industry.

I'm thinking very future here. This shift might come tomorrow, might take years, but it's coming for sure. People already tell LLMs to book hotels, search flights, etc. Why shouldn't we build the AI infrastructure for freight management before everyone else wakes up to it? Below are some examples that might sound silly, but this is about building the foundation.

I know freight management is a very professional industry, people might not do it like vacation room booking. What I'm trying to say is, we should create an AI foundation which should be capable enough to support these kind of questions too (like "get me rates from INNSA to CNSHA on this date, on this size, etc.").

I just thought of three things:

  1. AI Foundation: AI understandable, consumable interface (MCP, AI Toolchain, Vectors, etc.)
  2. Our platform, but enhanced with LLMs
  3. We have a huge amount of TBs of freight data, which we can use to train (this would help us to make LLMs answer questions like "Should I book this or should I wait for future, where the rates may drop")

1. AI Foundation: AI understandable, consumable interface

If you have used LLMs (GPT, Claude,..) you might have came across marketplaces, plugins. Like how you can connect ChatGPT or Claude with Google Drive to search your files, or connect with Jira to check tickets, or connect with Slack to read messages - all from the LLM chat itself. Similarly, we will provide Freightify plugins, whitelabeled plugins, where anyone can install and login via their LLM (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini). FYI, if you haven't tried these connectors (marketplaces, plugins), this is a dead simple process. Just two clicks, no more of technical work needed.

Then, if someone who installed asks questions to that LLM like, "get me rates from INNSA to CNSHA on this date, on this size, etc.", ChatGPT or any LLM would use our MCP (or any AI usable toolchain) to access the data and give response. Not just reading, any write activities also like "book this", "send this quote to client", etc. As it's natural language they can type anything and ask. We can send our same rate card designs in response. Our toolchain must be solid.

This AI Foundation (MCP, toolchain), whatever we provide, it can be consumed anywhere. In email plugins (QuoteAI), LLMs, anywhere. This is the foundation of our NLP.

2. Our current platform

Just to be clear, our current platform stays as it is, fully manual, nothing changes. But we will add a floating chat panel on top of it, which uses our MCP we discussed above to give responses to our customers.

We should provide full control. And the best part is, we can use this foundation we build anywhere.. like in any micro-modules of Freightify where we can give an AI touch. For example, in the quotes module, imagine auto-suggesting the best carrier for a lane based on past win ratios and rate history. That's it.

3. What should we do with our TBs of Freight data

The MCP (or AI toolchain) calls our APIs only.

We should use our data and train an internal AI model, which will take care of natural language questions which other of our MCP APIs can't tell.. like "any possibility that this rate will change in future?", then our LLM will provide response like "yeah, it might change, here is the past history"..

Why should we consider the above 3?

  1. Tech is evolving. I know this is a boomer point. But still, it's happening.

  2. What your first response would be is, "Forwarders and most of our users are not technically evolved yet to do this" - yeah valid. But they will evolve, as you know the speed of AI.

  3. We need to build this foundation, which can help in any of our internal modules.. like if we plan to bring any usage of AI in quote module (like if we introduce a feature in that module like, "analysis of forwarder budget with other rates and conditions, with world activities").

    This foundation AI toolchain would help us anywhere in the platform.

  4. We can be pioneers in this kind of freight forwarding with AI era.
